Butler Early College Program
An integral part of Butler University's partnership with IPS,
the Early College Program (ECP) provides appropriately prepared
juniors and seniors at Shortridge with access to college courses
for credit at Butler while the students are completing their high
school requirements. Another goal is to allow program students to
spend time on the Butler campus, participating in additional
educational and enrichment programs that help prepare them for
higher education.
Earning Early College Credits
Qualified Shortridge juniors and seniors can earn college
credits at Butler through the Early College Program (ECP) while
completing their high school degrees. Participants learn
side-by-side with Butler students and fulltime faculty, interacting
in intimate classroom settings.
All Butler colleges offer ECP courses covering many disciplines,
including writing, advanced foreign languages, and STEM (science,
technology, engineering and mathematics) fields. ECP participants
also enjoy one-on-one academic advising, peer mentoring and
instruction to enhance college-level study skills.
