Service Organizations

Alpha Phi Omega
A national coed service fraternity that accepts pledges in both
the fall and spring semesters. Members serve the community by
performing numerous volunteer work projects throughout Indianapolis
and with other chapters around the state. Additionally, the
organization sponsors an all-campus blood drive each semester.
Alternative Spring Break
(ASB)
This is a service trip over spring break. A group of students,
faculty, and staff travels out of state to participate in service,
exploration of social issues, and discussion of the role of service
on a personal and community level.
Best
Buddies
Formed to foster a friendship among the Butler community and young
adults with disabilities. Best Buddies concentrates its efforts on
providing peer relationships for mentally and physically challenged
young adults in the Indianapolis area.
Bulldogs Against Breast Cancer
Raises awareness, support and funding for breast cancer issues
throughout the Butler community.
Bulldogs Being Bigs
The mission of this group is to have a positive influence in the
development of children and the Butler student community through
the offering of friendship, stability, time, and support to
Indianapolis children in need. The organization
facilitates mentoring programs through Big Brothers Big
Sisters of Central Indiana, Shepherd Community Center, and the
Indiana School for the Blind and Visually Impaired. Participants
establish long-lasting, one-to-one relationships while also making
a lifetime's worth of difference in the lives of local
youths.
Circle K
A co-educational service, leadership, and friendship
organization sponsored by the Kiwanis Club.
College Mentors for
Kids!
The mission of this organization is to cultivate ongoing mentoring
relationships between college and elementary-aged students through
shared learning experiences on the university campus and in the
community.
Fall Alternative
Break
The students involved in this volunteer organization spend their
fall reading break improving the living conditions of the
individuals they serve. Each year, a work site is chosen and the
students supply the manual labor necessary to meet the fundamental
or emergency needs of the site.
Help Heal Haiti
Help Heal Haiti connects students with the opportunity to make a
lasting impression on their neighbors across the globe and
challenges them to be a part of the movement to bring hope and
permanent solutions to Haiti.
JUNTOS
JUNTOS is committed to excellence in the community through
volunteerism with Hispanic students in area Indianapolis Public
Schools (IPS). Members work alongside IPS students in an
after-school program to develop academically, socially, and
personally.
Timmy Global
Health
Timmy Global Health at Butler University was
officially chartered in 2005 as a campus affiliated organization
committed to community service both locally and abroad. While the
main activities generally associated with the nationwide foundation
are the annual medical service trips (to Xela, Guatemala). Timmy
Global Health at Butler University is committed to
extending the call to service to local communities as
well.
YMCA
The Butler YMCA is a student volunteer organization promoting
campus involvement and community service projects. All Butler
students, faculty, and staff are eligible for membership. For more
