Learning Tools
The Center for Academic Technology (CAT), located in Jordan Hall
room 037, assists Butler students, faculty, and staff by
facilitating learning using technology. Faculty can partner with
Academic Specialists to learn how to develop and integrate
technology into their classroom and pedagogy. The Information
Commons program, an academic technology consultation program, is
also available for faculty and students alike. See below for a
listing of the different services offered by CAT. CAT is a
member of Academic Affairs and is partnered with Butler IT to
perform a variety of services. You can contact CAT via email

Classroom Presentations:
CAT can assist with how-to software instruction through
classroom demonstration and hands-on in-class training.
Individual Consultation:
CAT provides one-on-one training to faculty and staff for
software, hardware, or other technology peripherals. CAT cannot
guarantee all requests, please call for more information.
Information Commons:
Students provide peer-to-peer training and consulting services
for other students as well as faculty. They also lead both in-class
and open training sessions on a wide range of technology
topics.
Lending Library:
CAT will lend iPads, recording devices, or other media rich
devices to faculty and staff for use in and out of the classroom
for a short period of time.
Panopto:
Panopto is a platform for presentation recording, live
webcasting, social learning, video content management and more.
CAT provides training for Panopto to faculty, staff, and
students. Faculty with consultation on the pedagogical use of
Panopto only.
Rich Media:
CAT supports the use of Rich Media on campus by providing
support and documentation for the use of equipment checked out to
faculty through CAT, training for students who check out digital
equipment, and in the incorporation of audio and video files
into supported software programs.
Software Training:
CAT provides training on the use of standard Butler software
such as Moodle. Individual training sessions can be made by
appointment. See the training schedule to sign up for planned group
training sessions.
