FREE Antivirus Software & Updates for Students

Every student MUST have functioning and up-to-date antivirus software installed on each of their computers. Once installed, it is the student's responsibility to keep the program up-to-date and periodically scan their computer for viruses.

Butler provides Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) with free definition updates for Windows and Mac. You must remove all Butler provided antivirus software from your computer when your affiliation with Butler ends. You may not redistribute this software under any circumstances. Do not run multiple antivirus applications on your computer at once!

If you choose not to install the Butler provided version of Symantec antivirus, Butler strongly suggests using one of the following antivirus products. You must have a subscription to one of these services if they are not free.

  • Microsoft Security Essentials
  • McAfee Antivirus
  • Norton Antivirus

Computers found to be infected by a virus will be removed from the network due to the security risk(s) they pose.

Complete the steps below to download and install Butler provided antivirus. Note: Symantec is available only to students and Butler owned machines; the license does not cover faculty and staff member personal machines.  *By downloading and installing this software, you agree to the terms below.
