Some Devices Interfere With the Butler Wireless Network

Butler IT has observed an increase in wireless interference due to the use of certain devices.
In order to maintain a quality experience for everyone, please immediately discontinue the use of any device listed on the prohibited wireless device list below.

Prohibited Wireless Devices:

Non-Bluetooth Wireless Peripherals including:
- Wireless Speaker Systems for your PC or Stereo
- Wireless Keyboards and Mice
- Wireless Video Cameras
- Wireless Printers (disable wireless and print via USB)
- Wireless Access Points or Routers (including Apple Airport Devices)
- 2.4 Ghz Cordless Telephones
Computers with Ad-Hoc Wireless Networks (Microsoft or Apple Internet Connection Sharing)
Zigbee or Wireless USB (2.4GHz) Devices

Approved Wireless Devices:

Bluetooth 2.1 (or higher) compatible peripherals such as keyboards, mice, and audio headsets
Client devices with Wi-Fi certified 802.11a/b/g/n wireless capabilities including:
- Laptops and Desktops
- Smartphones & iPods (iPhone, Droid, etc.)
- Tablet computing devices (iPad, Xoom, Galaxy Tab, etc.)

IT recommends that Windows XP users set their system to connect to infrastructure devices only.
This will reduce the amount of ad-hoc network interference.
