BUmail and Wireless on Android
Connect to BUmail (Exchange Account)
- From the home screen select menu and go to
Settings
- Select Accounts & Sync
- Select Add Account and choose either
Corporate Sync or Exchange
ActiveSync (it may be listed as something else similar to
either of these)
- Click Manual setup if the option is
available
- For Domain\User name, enter BUTLER\username
(substituting your Butler username for username). It may ask
you to enter the domain and username separately. If so, enter
butler.edu and your username.
- Enter your Butler password in the password
field
- Change the Server Address or Domain
Server to bumail.butler.edu
- The option related to "This server requires an
encrypted SSL connection" or something similar to that,
should be checked.
- Continue the setup and choose mail, contacts, and calendars to
sync
- Your account is now setup, and it will take a short time for
your emails to populate your inbox
- NOTE: At this time, you can only sync one Exchange account to
your Android device
Connect to Butler Wireless (BU Secure Wireless)
- Ensure that your Wifi radio is turned on and you are in an area
with
wireless coverage:
- From the home screen, tap the Menu button
- Select Settings from the menu that pops up at
the bottom of the screen
- Select Wireless & Networks from the next
menu
- Tap Wi-Fi Settings
- In the next screen the first choice will be Wi-Fi. If there is
no green check mark next to it, tap the box next to this option to
turn on the Wi-Fi
- Once Wi-Fi is turned on, a list of available networks should
load towards the bottom of the screen
- Select BU Secure Wireless from the list
of available networks
- Make sure that the EAP method is set to PEAP
- The Phase 2 authentication should be MSCHAPV2
- Enter your Butler username as the Identity
- Leave the Anonymous Identity blank
- Scroll down and enter your Butler password in the Wireless
Password area
- Tap Connect and it will connect to the BU
Secure Wireless
Connect to BU Guest/Open Wireless
- Ensure that your Wifi radio is turned on and you are in an area
with
wireless coverage:
- From the home screen, tap
the Menu button
- Select Settings from the menu that
pops up at the bottom of the screen
- Select Wireless & Networks from
the next menu
- Tap Wi-Fi Settings
- In the next screen the first choice will be Wi-Fi. If there is
no green check mark next to it, tap the box next to this option to
turn on the Wi-Fi
- Once Wi-Fi is turned on, a list of available networks should
load towards the bottom of the screen
- Select BU Guest/Open Wireless from
the list of available networks
- A screen will appear in your internet browser with username and
password fields, as well as two links. Click on the I Don't
Have a Butler Account - Create a Guest Account link.
- Enter the required information and click
Submit
- The page will confirm that your account has been successfully
created. Make a note of your username and
password. These appear below along with the information
you entered on the previous page.
- When you have your information ready, click on the button
labeled I have my username and password, take me to the log
in screen
- Enter your username and password. Click Log
In.
- The Butler University Computer Use Policy appears. Once you
have read the policy, indicate your acceptance by checking the
Accept the terms and conditions box, then click
Accept.
- An Active-X download may take a few seconds. You may also see a
notification that your IP Address is being renewed.
- Once completed, you should now have Internet access
