Outlook 2010 IMAP Configuration
Setting up Outlook to access BUmail via IMAP lets Outlook access
your email only. IMAP does not allow calendar synchronization or
group functions. IMAP works both on and off campus.
- Launch Outlook. From the File menu,
click the Account Settings Button and
then click Account Settings
- If this is your first account you will be prompted by the
wizard. Otherwise click
the New button.
- Select E-Mail Account and
click Next
- Click IMAP and then
click Next
- Click Manually configure server settings or
additional server types then
click Next
- Select Internet E-mail then
click Next
- Enter your full name
and Butler email address
- Select IMAP from the Account Type
menu
- The incoming mail server
is bumail.butler.edu and the outgoing
mail server is also bumail.butler.edu
- Enter your Butler username and password
- Check Remember password
- Click the More Settings button
- Click the Outgoing Server tab
- Check My outgoing server (SMTP) requires
authentication and Use same settings as
my incoming mail server
- Click the Advanced tab
- Incoming server: Select SSL from the
drop down menu and set the port
to 993
- Incoming server: Select TLS from the
drop down menu and set the port to 587
- Click OK.
- Click Next and
then Finish
Outlook 2007 IMAP Configuration
Setting up Outlook to access BUmail via IMAP lets Outlook access
your email only. IMAP does not allow calendar synchronization or
group functions. IMAP works both on and off campus.
- Launch Outlook. From the Tools menu, select
Account Settings…
- If this is your first account you will be prompted by the
wizard. Otherwise click the New button
- Click Microsoft Exchange, POP3, IMAP, or
HTTP and then click Next
- Check the box for Manually configure server
settings then click Next
- Select Internet E-mail then
click Next
- Enter your full name and Butler email address
- Select IMAP from the Account Type
menu
- The incoming mail server
is bumail.butler.edu and the outgoing mail
server is also bumail.butler.edu
- Enter your Butler username and password
- Check Remember password
- Click the More Settings button
- Click the Outgoing Server tab
- Check My outgoing server (SMTP) requires
authentication and Use same settings as
my incoming mail server
- Click the Advanced tab
- Incoming server: Select SSL from the
drop down menu and set the port
to 993
- Incoming server: Select TLS from the
drop down menu and set the port
to 587
- Click OK.
