Butler University Police Department

Butler University seeks a professional candidate to join its police department as a sworn, full-time police officer.  This position is an essential part of providing for the safety and security of the campus and neighboring community.

 • Perform functions related to preservation of public peace and order
 • Prevention of crime
 • Apprehension of offenders 
 • Protection of people and property
 • Enforcement of the laws of the State of Indiana and regulations of Butler University
• Respond to customer requests and provide security services
 • Participate in Community Policing programs and presentations
• Work collaboratively with other police agencies in resolving problems and enhancing community relations

 • Must be a resident citizen of the United States and at least 21 years of age
 • Must have a high school diploma or GED certificate
• Strong oral and written communication skills
 • Provide a physician's certificate of health documenting the ability to meet the physical demands of the job and pass a written exam, physical agility test, drug screen, psychological assessment and background check
 • Must be available to work various shifts and weekends
 • Must have a valid driver's license with a good driving record from state of residence
 • Cannot have a felony conviction; conviction involving domestic violence under [18 USC §922 (g)]
 • A current Indiana Law Enforcement certification (LETB)
