POSITION SUMMARY:

The Network and Security Engineer serves the mission of Butler University as a member of the department of Information Technology.  This individual maintains architecture, technology, change management, security, and design of the network in conjunction with the IT Operations and Technology Development teams.  A successful candidate will have experience architecting interoperability and security between disparate systems.  This individual will collaborate with team members to create project plans, timelines, and deliverables, and will guide operations personnel in the maintenance of a secure and functional network.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
● Maintains a strong understanding of interconnected systems at Butler
● Enforces policies and procedures with regard to network administration tasks
● Coordinates and assists with the application  of updates, fixes, customizations, and configuration changes throughout the network infrastructure
● Design firewall rules as well as securely bridging interconnected systems
● Responsible for NAC (Cisco ISE, experience preferred) as well as firewalls (ASA), IPS (Cisco) and other security systems such as SIEM (QRadar), vulnerability management (Nessus)
● Manages network applications (experience with DNS, DHCP,  NTP, and load balancing, F5 preferred)
● Responsible for routing, switching, VRF configuration, firewalls, BGP, and wireless
● Troubleshoots network problems in Butler's 9500 node network    
● Creates network documentation and diagrams logical networks
● Oversees and manages relationships with vendors and partners in infrastructure space
● Manages budget associated with implementation of new building networks and upkeep of existing campus-wide wired and wireless networks
● Automates repeated tasks with respect to monitoring systems and network health
● Automates manual tasks
● Stays abreast of industry changes and best practices for networking and use in higher ed
● Develops, recommends and adheres to IT standards
● Understands and can configure virtual networking
● Understands centralized wireless management and configuration with Cisco Prime 


COMPETENCIES AND REQUIREMENTS:       
 
● Bachelor's degree with ten years of Information Technology or related experience or an Associate's degree with ten to fifteen years Information Technology or related experience
● Proficiency in network addressing (IPv4), advanced DNS and DHCP required
● Cisco Certified Professional certifications strongly preferred
● Proficiency in a programming or scripting language preferred
● Knowledge of NAC, NAT, VRF, ACLs, Cisco VOIP, Cisco wireless preferred
● Knowledge of security best practices preferred
● Evidence of strong customer service and communication skills
● Demonstrated ability to work and lead in a team environment
● Demonstrated ability to work a flexible schedule that includes occasional weekend hours

Butler University is seeking an experienced individual for the position of Web Design Specialist in the web development area.  An individual in this role will work closely with the Marketing and Communications department in conjunction with Information Technology to advance the University mission in communicating to our constituents by way of web technologies.  The position will be partially embedded, co-located within the Marketing and Communications team as well as within Information Technology on an 80% to 20% schedule.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Front-end web development for www.butler.edu and internal websites
• Ongoing support of University websites
• Website troubleshooting
• Test web usability, as necessary per project
• Ensure cross-browser compatibility
• Continuous development and implementation of web standards
• Ability to define requirements and facilitate discussions in a team environment
• Collaborate with back-end web developers and team members to project completion
• Provide technical support in the University's digital marketing efforts

COMPETENCIES AND REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor of Arts degree in Computer Science or a related field
• Minimum 2 years of web development experience
• Proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, Wordpress
• Development within a CMS environment (e.g., Umbraco, Drupal)
• Experience with common JavaScript libraries (e.g., jQuery)
• Experience with creating and parsing RSS and JSON feeds
• Knowledge of popular web browsers and DOM inconsistencies
• Awareness of responsive design techniques and development for mobile devices
• Practical experience with plug-in browser developer tools
• Familiarity with Microsoft .NET and PHP, or a drive to learn
• Graphic design tool experience (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite)

The Human Resources, Information Systems Functional Analyst will serve the mission of Butler University as a resource to analyze, recommend, implement and support solutions to solve complex university needs.   The position will require a working knowledge of ERP systems - in this instance, specifically within PeopleSoft HCM - with demonstrated experience in query writing.  The primary focus of this position is the support and maintenance of the Human Resource Management System (HRMS) in addition to other systems supported by the HRIS team. This individual serves as a technical point-of-contact for assigned functional areas and assists subject matter experts with ensuring data integrity, testing of system changes, report writing and analyzing data flows for process improvement opportunities. The HRIS Analyst also supports HRMS upgrades, patches, testing and other technical projects as assigned.  An important part of the duties in this role is to help ensure appropriate technology is used to meet the department's needs.  This person is the first line of support for the business area in working with the area's business systems.

COMPETENCIES AND REQUIREMENTS
 
● Bachelor's degree with 2-5 years of systems experience (HRIS strongly preferred)
● Demonstrated proficiency with setting up and troubleshooting systems
● Evidence of strong customer service and communication skills
● Experience with PeopleSoft applications strongly preferred
● Understanding of and experience in SQL or other relevant languages
● Familiarity to ERP and relational database management as well as an eye to strategic direction in Human Resources technologies
● Certification in business area preferred (PHR,SPHR,CAPM)

This team member will ensure enterprise desktop management systems are maintained in a healthy, reliable, efficient and cost-effective and manner.  In the role of Desktop Operations Sr. Information Systems Specialist, this individual will have the following responsibilities:

Responsibilities:
● Manage desktop OS and software administration infrastructure utilizing System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) for Windows and JAMF Software's Casper Suite for Mac OS.
● Deploy, configure, monitor, and update Windows and Mac OS desktop operating systems.
● Patch and upgrade desktop operating systems (Windows and Mac OS X).
● Package OS installations and custom application packaging for automated deployment.
● OS and application maintenance and ongoing system configuration changes.
● Automate processes by creating and utilizing scripts.
● Administer and support virtual desktop environment.
● Maintain and monitor Symantec Endpoint Protection management platform.
● Analyze system/business processes to identify inefficiencies; develop strategies for improvement; operationalize and automate procedures to improve business processes.
● Create and maintain procedural/knowledge base documentation.
● Train front line support staff groups on desktop deployment and administration tools and processes.
● Troubleshoot hardware and software based issues as they arise.
● Manage Network Licenses for Desktop Applications.
● Work as team member in the development of support and processes surrounding.
● Other duties as assigned.

Requirements and Qualifications:
● Required:
o 2-4 years' experience with supporting enterprise desktop systems, hardware and software
o 2-4 years' experience with desktop operating systems (Windows 7, 8, 8.1 and/or Mac OS X 10.8 and 10.9)
o 1-3 years' experience with an enterprise desktop management system (SCCM 2012 and/or JAMF Software's Casper Suite).
● Preferred but not required:
o BS/BA degree in a technology related field.
o Experience scripting in a desktop environment (Powershell and/or Mac OS shell scripting).
o Experience with creating custom software and OS image packages that allow for zero-touch deployment of applications and operating systems.
o Understanding of OS and application patch deployment and management.
o Experience in a higher education and/or a large/complex IT organization.
o Experience with managing an enterprise deployment of antivirus software.
o Understanding of directory and authentication services, such as Active Directory and LDAP.
● Considered a plus:
o Experience with Active Directory Group Policy environment.
o Solid understanding and experience with VMware Horizon View.
o OS and application virtualization.
● Additional skills:
o Excellent verbal and written communication skills; demonstrated organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail; demonstrated teamwork skills. Proven customer service and telephone skills.  Professional appearance and demeanor under pressure. 
o Experience leading mid-sized projects.
