The Department of Dance of Butler University, Jordan College of
Fine Arts, is inviting applications and nominations for an
Assistant Professor of Dance, Tenure Track.
RESPONSIBILITES: Teach Ballet Technique for undergraduate
dance majors at the Advanced and pre-professional levels;
commitment to teaching in the core curriculum, academic or
movement-related course(s) and one or more of the following: Pointe
Technique, Men's Ballet Technique, Body Conditioning, Choreography,
dance academics. Create choreography for the Butler
Ballet. Evidence of and commitment to advising and mentoring
undergraduate dance majors and serve on departmental, college and
university-wide committees.
QUALIFICATION: Evidence of excellence in Ballet Technique,
demonstrated experience in pedagogy a variety of teaching methods
and/or curricular perspectives, demonstrated research interests
and/or other dance subjects as stated above that may include
scholarship in areas related to diversity; evidence of professional
career and at least three years of university and/or professional
teaching experience; M.F.A. preferred or equivalent. The
successful candidate will demonstrate ballet as a first language
and exhibit a breadth of understanding of newer disciplines.
SALARY: Competitive and commensurate with experience and
qualifications.

Jordan College of Fine Arts is the home of the performing and
visual arts of Butler University with undergraduate programs in
music, dance, theater, arts administration and art. The
Department of Dance has a strong ballet focus within a liberal arts
education and offers BFA, BA, and BS degrees in performance,
pedagogy and dance/arts administration, respectively, with major
emphasis on performing and the training of highly competitive
dancers. The programs are also committed to providing a
strong educational background in teaching and choreography.
