Butler University is seeking an individual with the ability to troubleshoot and perform work on telecommunication, electrical, mechanical and plumbing systems in order to maintain a comfortable, safe, and efficient environment for faculty, staff, students, and visitors. 

In addition, this candidate will be in a Lead position to assist with supervising other staff members and to gain knowledge of University systems to prepare this position to eventually take over supervision of the entire shop once the current supervisor retires.

The T.E.M.P (telecommunication, electrical, mechanical and plumbing) Shop Lead installs and maintains telecommunication, electrician, mechanical and plumbing systems. 

• Provide occasional instruction to other employees in means, methods, and/ or procedures needed to carry out their assigned duties
• Make work assignments for others
• Advise peers on decision making and provide information to supervisors/management that they use in making a decision
• The T.E.M.P Lead may perform other related tasks in support of the department's mission and goals

• High school graduate or equivalent
• Successful completion of technical/trade school in related field or 5 years related work experience
• Working knowledge of wiring circuits and basic standards for telecommunication, electrician, mechanical and plumbing installations
• Ability to read telecommunication, electrical, mechanical and plumbing drawings
• Must show evidence of the ability to lift 75 pounds, climb and walk for extended periods and distances on hard surfaces
• Work in confined spaces and in various positions
• Must have a good driving record and a valid driver's license
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
