We are seeking applicants for Building Services housekeeping positions. 

•    Perform daily cleaning of facilities
•    Assist in room set-ups in buildings

•    Prior professional housekeeping experience
•    Demonstrated ability to stand or walk for extended periods of time and to lift up to 50 lbs., Agility as necessary to perform tasks

Building Services Lead Position-Night Shift 3:30 P.M. to 12:00 A.M. (Flex Schedule) ~ Show Details

Responsibilities to the Mission:   

•    "Hands On" position with providing general housekeeping services and maintaining cleanliness in campus buildings as assigned by the Building Services supervisors

•    Assist department Supervisors with direct supervision of anywhere from 12 to 14 Building Services staff members - on routine daily/nightly basis and as directed by the supervisor

•    Assist Supervisors with planning, scheduling and coordinating routine/special assignments for Building Services staff engaged in the maintenance and general housekeeping of campus buildings and grounds

•    Assist Supervisors with conducting detailed training for staff to include new employee training, orientation and safety training as necessary.

•    Assist Supervisors with preparing weekly or bi-weekly staff and safety meetings

•    Provide direct supervision and leadership coverage for staff whenever evening or night supervisor is off duty or as assigned

•    Assist supervisors with control and issue of supplies and equipment
Competencies Required:   
•    Must have ability to withstand prolonged standing and walking

•    Must have ability to work a flexible schedule, weekends and overtime or on-call as required

•    Must have ability to use cleaning compounds and equipment

•    Must have agility to allow for climbing for cleaning purposes

•    Responsibility for staff and tasks completed in supervisor's absence

•    Basic computer skills - experience and knowledge (Outlook & Microsoft Word)

•    Must be able to demonstrate good leadership ability and initiative.

Part-Time Operations Assistant - Schrott Center for the Arts ~ Show Details

Butler University seeks a part-time Operations Assistant for the 454-seat Howard L. Schrott Center for the Arts.  The Operations Assistant could work approximately 20 hours per week under the supervision of the Operations Manager to run the day-to-day operations of the building. This position works closely with the Schrott Production Manager and Assistant.  The hours will vary depending on the schedule of events.

Key responsibilities include: 
•    Respond to inquiries
•    Conduct site tours and provide information about the Schrott Center
•    Assist with rental administrative duties including contracts and payments, insurance, schedules, ticket information
•    Maintain basic office functions
•    Lock and unlock the facility and supervise student assistants during events, enforcing University policy and procedures
•    Plan, organize, train and direct the activities of volunteer and/or student ushers, ticket takers and greeters
•    Provide excellent customer service
•    Assist with website and social media

Requirements include:
•    Associate Degree (Bachelor's degree in Theatre, Arts Administration or related major preferred)
•    At least 1 year of professional experience working in special event planning, venue or theatrical management
•    Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
•    Ability to work well under pressure
•    Willing to work flexible hours including evening and weekends

Preference given to candidates with:
•    Familiarity with the Ticketmaster system
•    Knowledge of best practice for seating and ticketing
•    Experience in training and supervising student workers
•    Experience working with community-based organizations or with students of color
•    Experience monitoring work-related conditions to ensure compliance with operating and safety regulations

Maintenance Services

Responsibilities to the Mission:   

    •    Provide daily care and upkeep of campus grounds to include planting, seeding, fertilizing,
        aerating, mowing, pruning, irrigation, and leaf removal
    •    Assist in snow removal, clean streets and sidewalks, collect and dispose of trash
    •    Perform minor/preventive maintenance on grounds equipment as needed
    •    Install signage
    •    Maintain trash control and recycling
    •    Set up for university events
    •    Perform other related duties as assigned

Competencies Required:

    •    High school graduate or equivalent
    •    Must be physically able to work outside year round
    •    Evidence of stable work history and dependability
    •    Prior experience in grounds work desired
    •    Valid driver's license and good driving record
    •    Must be able to work overtime or on-call as required
    •    Demonstrated ability to work independently or with a team
    •    Must be able to lift 50 lbs and carry 10 feet

This is an entry-level position with a starting salary of $10.43/hour.
