Aquatic Incentive Programs
How Much Can You Swim in a Year?
Date: August 27, 2012- May 3, 2013
Time: Anytime the pool is available for lap
swim.
Have you ever wondered how much you could swim in one academic
year? If so, this is the program for you. Track all the distance
you swim throughout the entire year and see how far you can go.
There are tracking cards available on the pool deck to record
the distance you swam and how long it took you to swim. There is
also space to write a goal or two to keep yourself motivated.
Prizes will be given out for longest distance, most time in the
pool swimming, and most improved.
'Tis the Season to be Stroking
Date: October 29-December 7, 2012
Time: Anytime the pool is available for lap
swim
Taking 10,000 steps each day has been proven to produce numerous
health benefits. This November-December, let's see what
10,000 strokes can do for you physically and mentally! (This
challenge is based on an AVERAGE of 20 strokes per pool length
which equals approximately 7.5 miles for each 10,000 strokes.)
Record your swimming progress on the poster in the Aquatic
Center between October 29-December 7, 2012. See how many
times you can swim 10,000 strokes! A t-shirt will be awarded at the
end of the program and you completed 10,000 strokes. Sign-up
at the pool beginning October 15.
Swim to Spring Break
Date: January 14-March 8, 2013
Time: Anytime the pool is available for
lap swim
Pick a destination and make it your goal to swim the distance
during 8 weeks. The destinations are Gatlinburg, New
York City, Miami, Hollywood, and Maui. Complete the distance
and win a prize. Don't worry though you don't have to swim
the exact miles that it would take to drive there. Each
length of the pool counts as 1 mile. So if your destination is
Gatlinburg (315 miles), you would swim 8000 yards.
You can carpool to your destination. Get 4 people together
and agree on the destination. The team can add each person's
distance to achieve the entire distance. This is a great way to
keep each other motivated.
Sign-up and tracking sheet will be located on the table in
the pool area January 14, 2013
Butler 500
Date: April 1-26, 2013
Time: Anytime the pool is available for lap
swim.
This is a great way to get ready for the summer and start
getting ready for racing season. The Butler 500 allows
participants to pick from two distances to attain their swimming
goals. You can either swim 500 lengths (12,500 yards) or 500
laps (25,000 yards). One length is just down. One lap
is swimming down and back.
Sign-up and tracking sheet will be located on the table in the
pool area after Spring Break. Move your car along the track
as you make progress. Prizes for those that make the
distance!
