How To Apply
Entering Freshmen
Students who have been accepted to Butler University with a
combined SAT score of 1320 or higher OR an ACT composite score of
30 or higher OR who are in the top 5% of their high school
graduating class will be invited to apply to the Honors Program.
Students will be asked to submit a personal statement essay to be
considered for program admission. Students should submit a Butler
application by Feb. 1 to ensure consideration for the Honors
Program.
Current Students
Invitations are extended to Butler freshmen who complete at
least 16 graded credit hours in their first semester and sophomores
who complete at least 32 credit hours in their first two semesters
at Butler with a GPA of 3.60 or better. Students who wish to join
the program must obtain a faculty endorsement (recommendation
form) (PDF).
Students may also petition for admission to the program. With
the support of a faculty member (recommendation
form) (PDF) and a GPA of 3.60 or higher, a student who has a
true desire to be in the program may apply by writing a letter
describing educational background, goals and how participation in
the Honors Program will contribute to their education at Butler
University.
Transfer Students
Transfer students may petition to join the program if they have
earned a GPA of 3.60 or higher at their previous institution with
at least 16 graded credit hours. A student must complete at least
60 hours at Butler in order to receive any Butler honors at
commencement.
