2013 Thesis Proposal Writers' Workshop Series

The Thesis Proposal: The Basics. - This workshop will highlight the major requirements for the thesis process process and the written proposal. Come Prepared with questions that you've generated while preparing early drafts of your proposal.

The Thesis Statement: Effective Development and Utilization. - All thesis proposals must contain a clear iteration of your thesis statement - it is the cornerstone of your work. This workshop will address the characteristics of effective thesis statments and will provide strategies for drafting quality thesis statements. Come prepared with a preliminary thesis statement so that we can work together to develop your early thoughts about your thesis work.

Grammar Refresher. - Your grammar and writing style matter! The ability to communicate your ideas to your audience clearly and effectively is essential to your success as a thesis writer. This workshop will explore the errors commonly made by thesis writers and will provide strategies for avoiding these missteps.

Student Advice Panel. Been There, Done That, Wish I Would Have Done That! - You're not alone as you undertake your thesis project. This year alone, more than forty University Honors Program students are on track to complete their projects. Attend this informative panel question and answer session to learn their secrets to successful thesis writing.

Dinner will be provided for this workshop, so please RSVP if you're attending so that we can order enough food.

March 8, 2013: Thesis Proposals due

Nov. 15, 2013: Date by which all thesis proposals must be approved for May '14 grads

March 21, 2014: Penultimate Thesis Draft due to the Honors Program Office for May '14 grads
