History Graduate Degree Program

The Department offers a Master of Arts in History. Graduate students may select either a 30-hour program of courses with a master's thesis or a 36-hour program of courses without a thesis. Those in the 36-hour track must complete at least two research seminars. All applicants must take the GRE.

Butler offers advanced study in the areas of:

U.S. History
Midwest Regional and Urban Studies
European Intellectual, Cultural, and Social History
East Asian History
Latin American History

Butler offers graduate work in day, limited evening, and summer programs, permitting both fulltime and part-time enrollment.
