I have three favorite memories of Hinkle Fieldhouse. The first would be going with my Dad to watch Tony Hinkle coach his Butler Bulldogs to a victory against Willie Long and the Lobos of the University of New Mexico. The second would be winning the IHSAA Regional Championship as a senior at Speedway High School over Crispus Attucks High School in 1973, sending Speedway to their 1st ever Sweet 16 (back during the one class basketball system) the next weekend against Franklin High School (we lost) again at Hinkle Fieldhouse. The third would be as a senior basketball player at Butler University. In my last home game in 1977, we lost to Indiana State. I guarded Larry Bird the entire game and held him to 47 points!!!
