Virginia waterleaf, or Eastern waterleaf (Hydrophyllum virginianum)
Member of the Waterleaf (Hydrophyllaceae) family. Found in moist woods, grows 1 to 3 feet, May - August, blooms May - June. Flowers are white or pale violet, bell-shaped, with long hairlike stamens, densely clustered. Leaves are mottled (often marked as if stained with water), irregular, 5 to 7 lobed.
