Striped cream violet (Viola striata)

Member of the Violet (Violaceae) family, grows 6 - 12 inches in low woods and along streambanks, April - June.  Is characterized by large, toothed stipules at the base of the heart-shaped leaves.  Stems green and smooth.  Leaves and flowers are on the same stalk.
