Goldenrain tree  (Koelreuteria paniculata)

Non-native, introduced

Alternate pinnately compound leaves and yellow flowers produced in mid-summer are characteristic of this native of Asia.  Once called the "gate tree" from being planted at the gate of William McClure's residence in New Harmony, where he introduced the species to Indiana.
