What's New with the Healthy Horizons Program?
Healthy Horizons Walking Program - Join Us!
Add more walking to your day in 2009, spend time with your fellow Butler co-workers, and enjoy the winter season by participating in the Healthy Horizons Walking Program! Groups will meet at Norris Plaza (the large area between Jordan Hall and Lilly Hall) Monday through Thursday at 12:15pm.
A CPR-certified group leader will be present every day, so you'll always have someone to walk with. There is no need to sign up - just arrive ready to walk! After 10 walks, you will earn a Healthy Horizons pedometer, and after 10 more walks, you will receive a Healthy Horizons Walking Program tee shirt. So bundle up and come walk with us!
Indoor Options for Staying Fit and Healthy
Looking for ways to stay in shape during the winter weather? Try some of these options!
Indoor Track at Hinkle Fieldhouse
6.5 laps = 1 mile
Note: Availability of track is subject to schedule of Butler Athletics. While the track is available most mornings, lunch hours, and evenings, it may be closed to accomodate team practices and games. If track is closed, the 1st floor corridors may be used for walking.
Indoor Routes
For an easy 3/4 mile walk that includes stairs:
- Start at the Jordan Hall Mail Center.
- Walk down the hall to the College of Education.
- Take the steps up to the 2nd floor.
- Turn right and walk all the way down the hallway to the stairwell across from Room 206.
- Take the steps up to the 3rd floor.
- Turn left and walk all the way down the hallway to the stairwell next to Room 382.
- Take the steps back down to the 2nd floor.
- Walk straight ahead to enter the Holcomb Building Walkway.
- Take the walkway to the stairwell across from the library.
- Descend the stairs until you find yourself at the College of Business.
- Retrace your steps back to the starting point at the Jordan Hall Mail Center for the full 3/4 mile route.
