Study Abroad Overview
Are you a non-Butler student looking for the Institute for Study
Abroad, Butler University (IFSA-Butler)?
Please visit the Institute for Study
Abroad-Butler website.
Butler University offers over 110 study abroad programs in over
40 countries to meet the diverse needs of the student population.
You may choose to study for a semester, academic year or summer
term. All students who wish to study abroad must work with the
Center for Global Education. You may study abroad as early as the
first semester of your sophomore year and as late as your senior
year, if allowed by your College. The Center for Global Education
provides study abroad advising and organizes pre-departure and
reentry sessions to help guide you through the study abroad
process, and encourages you to begin considering study abroad as
part of your academic planning in your first year at Butler.
The Center for Global Education also maintains the List of
Approved Programs for Overseas Study (PDF). This list offers a
wide variety of options to Butler students interested in studying
abroad during the academic year. All programs on the list meet
Butler's high standards for academic excellence. Students are
expected to select their overseas study program from the approved
list. Visit "Where
Can I Go?" to research approved study abroad programs.
Participation in a study abroad program encourages the exchange
of knowledge and understanding, and promotes enlightened and
responsible citizenship and leadership. We strongly encourage you
to study in an international setting as apart of your academic
experience at Butler. Learn more about how to find the option
that's right for you, how to plan and prepare for your study abroad
experience and how to assimilate back into campus life at Butler
upon your return.
