GALA Fall 2010
Butler Semester in Latin America
Participate in Butler's GALA - Global Adventures in the Liberal
Arts -study abroad program by traveling in Latin America throughout
the Fall Semester of 2010 while completing four core classes plus a
two week homestay & internship experience. Taught by Butler
professors - all with field experience in the region - the classes
will be a blend of classroom and on-site lectures, discussions,
site visitations, written assignments and exams. Learn in
context by traveling to:
Panamá *
Nicaragua * Guatemala
* México
The group will spend three weeks in Panama, four weeks
Nicaragua, a week Guatemala and five weeks in Mexico connecting
with cultures and the environment along the way.
Earn a total of 16 credit hours that fulfill
core or general elective requirements and waive one semester of
Change and Tradition (C&T) or Global and Historical Studies
(GHS) upon successful completion of the program. Spanish
language is NOT required (though helpful).
You will pay your regular tuition to Butler University and will
be able to apply 100 percent of your institutional aid (i.e.,
Butler scholarships) to your tuition costs.
