Scholarships
Why Support Scholarships?
More than 80 percent of Butler's students receive financial aid,
and each year the university awards more than $3.8 million to help
meet this need. Scholarship support helps Butler attract the best
and brightest students and makes a Butler education possible for a
large number of those students.
The university is pleased to work with you to create new
scholarship awards or to fund existing scholarship programs that
will support Butler's mission to provide the highest quality of
liberal and professional education. Your scholarship gift can
provide need- or merit-based assistance to students in the college
or program of your choice.
Types of Scholarships
Annual Scholarships
Annual scholarship gifts provide tuition remission to deserving
students on a year-to-year basis. Most of Butler's annual
scholarships are program specific.
Endowed Scholarships
When you create an endowed scholarship of $25,000 or more, you
assure that money is available in perpetuity to help Butler
students afford growing tuition costs. Each year a portion of the
accrued interest funds a scholarship award; the remainder is
returned to the endowment so that it will grow with every passing
year. And because endowed scholarships become a "living" part of
the university, many donors choose to create one to commemorate a
family legacy, a dear friend, or another important individual.
