Butler Libraries
Butler students get the research assistance and materials they need to succeed in our University Libraries. The university depends upon loyal and generous donors to help sustain the libraries’ mission to provide facilities, services, resources, technology and educational opportunities that facilitate access to information.
Butler University maintains two libraries—Irwin Library and the Ruth Lilly Science Library. Together, these University Libraries contain approximately:
- 250,000 monograph volumes
- 110,000 government documents
- 1,500 current journal subscriptions
- 14,000 audio-visual materials
- more than 17,000 musical scores
Workstations in both libraries give access to the online catalog, remote databases, full-text journal article databases and Internet access.
Also, the Hugh Thomas Miller Rare Books and Special Collections Room contains many notable primary research collections, including:
- The Eliza Blaker Collection
- The Indiana Federation of Advertisers Association Collection
- The National Track & Field Hall of Fame Historical Research Library
- The Harold E. Johnson Jean Sibelius Collection
- The William F. Charters South Seas Collection
