Welcome to Explore Indy Religion
This website is a directory of religious institutions in and
around the city of Indianapolis, Indiana. It is the ongoing project
of students enrolled in a course called Religions of the World,
which is offered every semester at Butler University under the
direction of Dr. Chad Bauman. Ongoing is the operative word-during
the fall of 2007, students will concentrate on posting the most
basic kinds of information about Hindu, Sikh, Buddhist, Muslim, and Jewish communities in
town (along, perhaps, with a few other groups which defy easy
categorization).
In future semesters, other students will expand the website's
coverage to include additional religions (like Christianity) and
additional topics (like stories about adherents of various
religions). Whether you're curious about the range of religions in
Indianapolis, want to get to know your neighbors better, or are
looking for a place to worship, we hope you find the site useful
and interesting. Please return frequently to see what new things
our students have discovered about religion in Indianapolis!
