Exploratory Studies

Exploratory Studies Residence Hall Unit

Living in the Exploratory Unit has given me wonderful opportunities as a student at Butler University. The young women in this hall are incredibly supportive… there is always somebody to talk to about your exploratory quest. In addition to having a solid support system in the unit, there are also unbeatable opportunities- things other exploratory students don't get to do. [I] would tell anyone still weighing their options to do what I did and consider living in the Exploratory Unit.

 Coffee and Careers

This program is currently available for women only. The residence hall unit, located in Schwitzer Hall, provides a supportive environment for first-year Exploratory Studies students. Not only will you benefit from a supportive environment, but you will also be invited to participate in special programs to help you explore your academic options! Past events include:

  • Meet-and-Greet with Exploratory advisors
  • Dinner with successful alumni who started at Butler as Exploratory Studies majors
  • Coffee and Careers series where majors are discussed over Starbucks (pictured)
  • Tour of fashion designers' clothing lines at the Indianapolis Museum of Art for women interested in design

To be part of this unique experience, accepted students simply need to indicate their interest on the online housing form or send an email to Doug Howell at dhowell@butler.edu. The first 30 women to do so will be able to live in the unit.
