Areas of Expertise
Susan has 30 years' experience in banking, corporate finance and
financial leadership where she has held several executive positions
in global organizations. What sets her apart is her sincere
passion for developing talent and increasing the awareness and
responsibility of leaders for their behaviors to create high
performance organizations.
As a former Treasurer of Shell Oil Company and former CFO of a
U.S. division of Shell, she has extensive experience at the
executive level. She led an international team of internal
consultants in virtual and multi-cultural environments. Susan was
responsible for designing and leading the ongoing transition
program for a shared service organization spanning seven countries
and over 5,000 staff. The program focused on transitioning to
clear governance, higher skill levels, cohesive culture and aligned
leadership.
Susan's academic credentials include a B.S. in accounting
from Iowa State University and an MBA from The University of Texas
at Austin. She has chaired and served on non-profit boards and
on a committee of advisors to the University of Texas Accounting
department. Susan has been recognized by Texas Executive Women as a
"Woman on The Move" and by The Diversity Journal as a
"Woman Worth Watching." Susan has spoken on topics including career
advancement for women, learning from failure and leading through
change. She has developed leadership courses for mid- to
senior-level managers and has been a trusted career advisor and
mentor. Susan facilitates learning through small groups and
individual coaching to drive immediate and practical change. She
has been a speaker at universities and conferences including Rice
University, Texas A&M, Women at The Top, National Association
of Women MBAs, Diversity Summits and the KPMG Energy
Conference.
