Janet Plaut Giesselman has significant experience in international business Startups, Turnarounds, Joint Ventures, and Strategic Planning. She has led multiple startups including Dow's Oil and Gas division based in Houston, TX where she was named President and General Manager and pioneered work in Enhanced Oil Recovery and Carbon Capture; Rohm and Haas' Global Turf and Ornamental business, Philadelphia, PA and Isagro, Milan, Italy. She served on the Board of Directors of numerous joint ventures including Chairman of the Board of Directors of RohMid, LLC, Wilmington, DE; Chairman of the Board of Directors of Dow Reichhold Specialty Chemical, Raleigh, NC; and F&R Agro, Warsaw, Poland. She was instrumental in leading significant business turnarounds as a Business Vice President at Dow AgroSciences, Indianapolis, IN; Business Vice President Dow Latex, Zurich, Switzerland; and Rohm and Haas' Regional Business Director Europe, Middle East and Africa based in Paris, France. She served as the Director Strategic Planning and Regional Business Manager, Asia Pacific for Rohm and Haas and was named Vice President Strategic Planning for Dow AgroSciences. She is known for her leadership abilities consistently restoring business profitability and creating a sustainable growth model through the establishment of significant innovation pipelines.

Giesselman has extensive experience in Government, Public and Regulatory Affairs, Compliance and Environmental Health and Safety. She led global regulatory teams that secured approval for numerous new products. Her advocacy and trade association work in Washington, DC and Europe positively influenced agricultural and energy policy. She is an expert in drafting and implementing crisis management plans including successfully managing more than 20 incidents in the chemical and biotechnological sectors.

She serves on the Board of Directors of the IF Foundation and the Indianapolis Opera. She has also served on the Board of Directors of Indiana University School of Medicine; Indiana University Research & Technology Corporation; Women in Science Council; Crop Life International; Crop Life America; Women's Innovation Network; Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra; Responsible Industry for a Sound Environment; National Paint and Coatings Association.

After graduating with a M.S. from the University of Florida, and a B.S. from The Pennsylvania State University, Giesselman began her career as a researcher at the University of Florida. She has published more than 20 society journal articles.
