Academic and Career Development Programs
At-Risk Advance Warning System
A component of the Butler University Multicultural Student
Recruitment and Retention Model, the At-Risk Advance Warning System
was implemented for all freshmen students to provide a
collaborative academic monitoring system and early identification
of student with potential academic difficulties.
Career Challenges Enrichment Program
The Career Challenges Enrichment Program enhances the personal
and professional development of the multicultural student through a
series of "brown-bag" career planning and study skills workshops.
Professional mentors from the Butler University Minority Alumni
Council are invited to discuss the various prospective of their
professions.
Big Brother/Big Sister Program
The Big Brother/Big Sister Program, sponsored by the Black
Student Union, provides a peer mentoring component to assist in the
academic and social orientation, and retention of multicultural
Freshmen and transfer students. Peer mentors also facilitate their
adjustment to the collegiate environment.
Black Student Union FAST (Future Academic Success Track)
Program
The Black Student Union FAST Program provides peer tutorial
assistance, study skills workshops, resource materials and small
group study sessions on a weekly basis at Irwin Library and in the
Multicultural Resource Center. During midterm and final
examinations, study sessions are held on a daily basis, including
weekends.
