Regional Auditions for Butler Dance

Butler will be offering regional auditions for admission into the Butler Dance program. One ballet technique class will serve as the audition. Auditions will occur in San Francisco (Jan. 5), Los Angeles (Jan. 6) and Baltimore (Jan. 12).

How to participate

High School Seniors

These auditions are for admission to Butler's department of dance. They are talent award eligible.

  1. Submit the Application for Admission & Scholarships(http://www.butler.edu/apply/) and make certain to list Dance as your intended major.  Applying by the university Early Action deadline of November 1 will provide the best opportunity for admission and scholarship.
  2. Subsequently submit the JCA Dance supplemental application as soon as possible after submission of the Application for Admission & Scholarships. This should be done online, following the prompts you will receive.
  3. Your request for a regional audition spot will then be confirmed via e-mail.
  4. You must be offered admission to the university AND have a successful Dance audition to become a Dance major at Butler.

High School Juniors

This is your chance to experience a Butler dance class as you consider where to apply next year.

  1. High school juniors may request to participate in this technique class by contacting klang@butler.edu by Dec. 1. Clearly indicate in your email that you are a "junior" wishing to take the technique class in either SF, LA, or Baltimore and provide your home mailing address.
  2. Requests to take the class will be confirmed via email.

Dress

Women should wear a black leotard and pink tights with hair pulled away from the face, flat shoes. Men should wear black tights with a fitted shirt and ballet shoes.
