Regional Auditions for Butler Dance

Butler will be offering regional auditions for admission into the Butler Dance program. One ballet technique class will serve as the audition. Auditions will occur in San Francisco (Jan. 30) and Los Angeles (Jan. 31).

How to participate

High School Seniors

These auditions are for admission to Butler's department of dance. They are talent award eligible.

  1. Submit academic and supplemental Dance application by December 18; preferably by November 15 for maximum opportunity. Go to www.go.butler.edu/forms.
  2. Mark "regional auditions SF" or "regional auditions LA" on top of application as well as in "1st choice audition date".
  3. Request for regional audition will be confirmed via U.S. mail.

  4. You must be admitted both to Butler and to its dance department to become a dance major.

High School Juniors

This is your chance to experience a Butler dance class as you consider where to apply next year.

  1. High school juniors may request to participate in this technique class by contacting klang@butler.edu by Dec. 18. Clearly indicate in your email that you are a "junior" wishing to take the technique class in either SF or LA and provide your home mailing address.
  2. Requests to take the class will be confirmed via U.S. mail.

Dress

Women should wear a black leotard and pink tights with hair pulled away from the face, flat shoes. Men should wear black tights with a fitted shirt and ballet shoes.

These auditions will be recorded for review by Butler dance faculty. Results will be mailed within four weeks.
