Performances
Butler Ballet, the performance component of the program, is designed to offer extensive
pre-professional opportunities. Butler Ballet produces full-length classical ballets — such as The Nutcracker, Swan Lake, The Sleeping Beauty or Cinderella — as well as original contemporary
works and shortened versions of the classics.
The variety of styles created by different
choreographers lends scope and excitement to the productions, both as quality entertainment
and as a learning experience for the dancers.
The productions are presented at Clowes Memorial Hall, the university's 2,182-seat theatre, which
is rated among the finest performing facilities in the region.
Butler Ballet performs with various
musical ensembles, including the Butler Symphony Orchestra and notably the Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra. For more than
30 years, Butler Ballet has toured regionally, providing a unique experience for students.
Butler Chamber Dance is designed to perform new choreographic works by the dance faculty. This ensemble may collaborate with similar University programs, professional companies and other performing artists.
