Benefits
The internship salary is a fulltime, 12-month position beginning
July 16, 2012. The salary will be no less than $21,800. The
benefits available to interns include health and life insurance, 10
days of paid vacation, 3 personal days, 5 sick days, 5
professional development days, university holidays (that do not
conflict with commitments at Aspire) and staff status at Butler.
Discounts are available for cultural events that occur on campus at
Clowes Memorial Hall, sporting events and movies.
Philosophy of Recruitment
The Butler University Consortium Doctoral Internship Program
advocates a communicative process. Throughout the selection process
the intern candidate is free to contact the site at any time to
speak to the Training Director or to current interns and staff
about the training program. The Selection Committee may interact
with candidates for purposes of gathering information only. The
frequency of contact(s) themselves do not constitute an implicit or
explicit element of favoritism or a guarantee of an internship
slot. Candidates can assume that they are being
considered in the selection process unless they hear otherwise
from the Training Director. This internship site is a member of
APPIC and, as such, agrees to abide by APPIC policies. In
particular, we agree to abide by the APPIC policy that no person at
this training facility will solicit, accept or use any
ranking-related information from any intern applicant.
Campus Visits
In order to be fair to all applicants, there will be no formal
contact with the Director of Training or the Center Director during
campus visits which may occur prior to actual interviews. Visits to
the training site are an option only for the Counseling and
Consultation Services portion of the internship. If candidates
are interested in visiting the Butler campus, they should contact
the Training Director who will connect them with one of our current
interns who will provide a tour of the facility. It will not be
possible to conduct informal visits to Aspire Indiana or
The Charis Center as they are not able to accommodate such visits
during regular working hours.
Application Process
Applications are due by 5:00 PM Eastern Standard Time on
November 10, 2011 for the three internship positions. Candidates
may apply to one or both of the programs we offer (Generalist and
Eating Disorders) but must specify which
program(s) they are applying to within their cover letter.
Our Program Code for the two positions in the Generalist
Program is 129311. Our Program Code for
the Eating Disorders Program is
129313.
Applicants much be currently enrolled in an APA-accredited doctoral
program in clinical or counseling psychology. Applicants must
have completed all required coursework, practicum, and qualifying
or comprehensive exams. Only applicants who have achieved
Master's degree status (terminal or nonterminal) before the ranking
deadline will be considered (for the purposes of billing at Aspire
Indiana and The Charis Center). Also, preference is given to
candidates who have proposed their dissertation by the ranking
deadline.
Applications must be submitted via the APPIC online process found
on the APPIC web
site (http://appic.org/). Files are not considered
complete until all materials are received by the Training Director
of Training. The Selection Committee will review applicant
files. Applicants chosen for interviews will be notified by
the Director of Training by December 15 and scheduled for either an
in-person or telephone interview. Email notification will be sent
by December 15 to applicants no longer being considered.
Immediately following the candidate interviews, the Selection
Committee will meet to rank applicants. Applicants will not be
contacted after interviews regarding whether they will be included
in our rank order submission. As stated in the Philosophy of
Recruitment statement, we may have contact with applicants only for
informational and clarification purposes.
Applicants that match with our site must pass a background check
prior to starting internship. Interns who match to our site
but do not complete or pass this background check will be dismissed
from the internship program.
