Student Of The Month - September 2002
Roy Stecker
I've had Sergeant Stecker in several classes this past year. He
is a solid, proactive student who takes his work very seriously. In
my ethics course Roy was always a regular participant; his
experience and opinions helped shape the course and provided an
interesting and welcome contrast. In my compilers course Roy,
together with teammates Stephanie Herman and Julie Lally, set the
standard for extra credit on the compiler project. I've never seen
a group do so well in that course. Congrats Roy!

Roy came to Butler after spending many years in the military,
where he took some computer courses and the University of Arizona,
where he started on his B.S. in Computer Science. He transferred to
Butler when his parents moved to Indianapolis. Roy is married and
has a wonderful daughter who is about 4 years old. Having grown up
in the New York City area, he has seen the world and has settled in
Indiana. Roy is currently working at Quest Information Systems,
having completed all his course requirements. Roy took 3 courses
with me, two of which were computer math course. Before coming to
Butler, he mentioned that math was not one of his strengths. But he
worked hard and ultimately earned an 'A' in one of my math courses.
Good luck Roy, we are glad you will be hanging around Indy. Stop by
to see us when you can!!
