Vocal Jazz Camp

July 22-26, 2013: Rising grades 9-12 or ages 14-18
Lilly Hall at Butler University's Jordan College of the Arts
Tuition: $245 commuter (includes lunch); $435 residential (includes dorm and 3 meals/day)

Butler Vocal Jazz Camp is a weeklong, intensive experience in vocal jazz performance, with exposure to diverse vocal styles, theory/musicianship, vocal technique and integrated technology.  No audition is required; it is recommended that participants have at least one year of prior experience in a choral ensemble.

Housing is provided in Butler University's ResCo dorm, which is air-conditioned. Dorm check-in is 4:30-6:00 on Monday evening; check-out on Friday evening. It is generally recommended that 7th graders attend as commuter students. Commuters arrive by 9:00 a.m. each day and should be picked up at 5:30pm. On Monday, all campers, including commuters, should plan to attend from 6:00-9:00pm. Applications must be postmarked by June 1 for residential campers; full payment due by June 1. Late applications may be accepted on the basis of available space.

Tentative Schedule for 2013

• Monday, July 22, 6:00-9:00pm:   ALL campers attend for orientation, scheduling, placement, get-acquainted activities, and group ensemble sessions.
• Tuesday, July 23 and Wednesday, July 24, 9:00-5:30pm:  ALL campers follow daily schedule of classes.  Lunch included for commuter campers.  For residential campers, there will be supervised evening activities; 3 meals/day included in tuition.
• Thursday, July 25, 9:00am-9:00pm;  ALL campers follow daily schedule PLUS stay for dinner (no additional charge) and evening guest artist.
• Friday, July 26, 9:00am-7:00pm; ALL campers follow daily schedule PLUS stay for dinner (no additional charge).  Finale recital begins at 6:30pm (tentative).  Camp ends at the conclusion of the recital.
