Speech-Language Clinic
Thank you for your inquiry concerning the Butler University
Speech-Language Clinic. Our clinic is located on the Butler
University campus in Jordan Hall. There are two purposes of the
Butler Clinic. First and foremost, our clinic serves those
individuals who experience difficulties with communication.
Secondly, our clinic provides an educational experience for
students who intend to become speech-language pathologists. Student
clinicians provide treatment services and diagnostic evaluations
under the supervision of an Indiana State licensed and American
Speech-Language-Hearing Association certified speech-language
pathologist or audiologist. Because this is an educational program,
several factors make our program unique. An explanation of these
factors and other information follows.
General Information
- Clinicians change schedules and rotate working with different
clients on a regular basis. Clients may have a different clinician
every semester. The purpose of this is to allow clinicians to have
a variety of experiences in their educational program.
- An observation room is provided for parents, siblings, and/or
spouses. Student clinicians are observed regularly by their
supervisors. In addition, other students who are majoring in
speech-language pathology may observe the treatment sessions.
- The Clinic respects the confidentiality of client records.
Permission slips for video and/or audio taping of treatment
sessions or for the releasing of information must be obtained from
the responsible party.
- The Butler Speech-Language Clinic observes the same holiday and
vacation schedules as the University. In the event of bad weather,
the clinic will follow the Butler University decision regarding
closing.
