Commencement

Accessibility Services for People with DisabilitiesAccessibility

We are pleased to provide family members and guests, who have accessibility needs, a reserved area. Students must indicate this information on the commencement ticket order form, and tickets designating wheelchair, accessible and companion seating will be issued. As you consider your need for accessible tickets please be aware that accessible seating is available only in designated reserved areas. Unfortunately, because all accessible seating is limited we cannot seat the entire family. We can only accommodate one guest to be seated with a family member in this section. Please designate a family companion through the selection of a companion ticket through the online ticket order form. Parking passes for those with mobility impairments should be requested on the ticket order form as well. If you need accessible seating accommodations, it is important you provide early notification of these needs due to limited seating.

Due to the large number of guests, we will release all accessible needs seats after 9:30 a.m.

Parking

Butler Annex parking lot (located at the intersection of 52nd and Boulevard Place) will be reserved for those individuals who have a state-issued disability placard or a Butler University issued permit. Butler University issued permits must be requested on the ticket order form. This is to allow for easy access to the North East Gate of the Butler Bowl for access to the reserved accessible seating.

The Butler University Bookstore provides a courtesy golf cart shuttle from the university campus. The golf cart shuttle will make a loop through campus before dropping guests off at the entrance to the Butler Bowl. View the Shuttle Map HERE.

Any vehicle may enter the Hinkle lot to drop-off guests who are not able to walk long distances.

Wheelchair accessibility

Ushers will refer guests to the reserved wheelchair accessible seating areas. One companion will be permitted to sit with the wheelchair user. Please request a companion ticket on the online ticket order form.

Auditory assistance

Accommodations for those who are hearing impaired will be provided in the form of an American Sign Language interpreter. Please inform us so that we can direct you to an area within close proximity to the interpreter. Phonic Ear Sound Enhancement is also available to amplify stage dialogue. Guests may pick up their individual receiver at the Information Desk located near the entrance to the Butler Bowl. A photo ID or credit card will be held while receiver is in use. 24 receivers will be available on a first come first served basis.
