Accessibility Services for People with Disabilities
Due to the large number of guests, we will release all
accessible needs seats after 9:20 a.m. All guests must have a
ticket to enter Hinkle Fieldhouse. We are pleased to provide family
members and guests, who have accessibility needs, a reserved area.
Students must indicate this information on the commencement ticket
order form, and tickets designating wheelchair and accessibility
seating will be issued. As you consider your need for accessible
tickets please be aware that accessible seating for wheelchair
users is available only on the first floor of Hinkle Fieldhouse.
Hinkle Fieldhouse does not have an elevator. A ramp system accesses
the upper seating areas. The first three rows in Hinkle Fieldhouse
are reserved for individuals with mobility impairments but who do
not use wheelchairs. Unfortunately because all accessible seating
is limited we cannot seat the entire family. We can only
accommodate one guest to be seated with a family member in this
section. Parking passes for those with mobility impairments should
be requested on the ticket order form as well. If you need
accessible seating accommodations, it is important you provide
early notification of these needs due to limited seating.
Parking
Your state-issued disability placard or a Butler University
issued permit are required for special parking considerations.
Butler University issued permits must be requested on the ticket
order form. Any vehicle may enter the Hinkle lot to drop-off guests
who are not able to walk long distances.
Wheelchair accessibility
Wheelchair access is available at the south end, Gate 4 of
Hinkle Fieldhouse. Ushers will refer guests to the wheelchair
accessible seating areas. One companion will be permitted to sit
with the wheelchair user. Please request a companion ticket on the
ticket order form.
Auditory assistance
Accommodations for those who are hearing impaired will be
provided in the form of an American Sign Language interpreter.
Please inform us so that we can direct you to an area within close
proximity to the interpreter. Phonic Ear Sound Enhancement is also
available to amplify stage dialogue. Guests may pick up their
individual receiver at the information desk located inside Gate 4.
A photo ID or credit card will be held while receiver is in use. 24
receivers will be available on a first come first served basis.
Guests may be seated anywhere in Hinkle to use the phonic ear sound
enhancement receivers.
