Eta Sigma Phi at Butler University
The Beta Mu Chapter of Eta Sigma Phi (the national honorary
collegiate society for students of Greek, Latin, and Classical
Studies) is a young organization on Butler's campus. Its members
are enthusiastic students of the languages of the Greeks and
Romans. The purpose of the society, as stated in the national
constitution, is "to develop and promote interest in classical
study among the students of colleges and universities; to promote
closer fraternal relationship among students who are interested in
classical study, including inter-campus relationship; to engage
generally in an effort to stimulate interest in classical study,
and in the history, art, and literature of ancient Greece and
Rome."
Requirements for Membership into the Beta Mu Chapter:
- Maintain at least a B average in courses in Latin and/or
Greek
- Complete at least one semester of Latin or Greek
- Remain actively involved within the Beta Mu Chapter
