Students
China 2001: Butler University/Freeman Foundation
Student-Faculty Fieldwork Trip
Five Butler students and Prof. Eriberto Lozada conducted
fieldwork on issues of globalization in urban and rural China in
the summer of 2001, from May 21 - July 4, 2001. We started in Hong
Kong, then went to Shanghai, and ended the trip in rural Meizhou,
Guangdong Province. All the students had taken at least one year of
Chinese (Mandarin) here at Butler (Payne had taken two years).
The five students were:
Rebecca Dayhuff - a first-year College of Business student,
majoring in International Management
Jeffrey Payne - a junior, majoring in Political Science.
Matthew Guebard - a sophomore, majoring in anthropology.
Jennifer Fugate - a first-year student, majoring in International
Studies.
Elizabeth Jackson - a sophomore, majoring in anthropology.
This research trip was generously supported by the Freeman
Foundation, through the AsiaNetwork Freeman Student-Faculty
Fellows Program.
