Student Resources
Students can become involved in the work of the Center for Citizenship and Community (CCC) in a number of different ways:
Enroll in a Service Learning Course

a difference in the community. Click to learn more about service
learning and service
learning courses at BU.
Become a Volunteer for one of the CCC’s Outreach Projects
You can become involved in CCC outreach projects without enrolling in a service-learning course. You can also continue serving at a community site once a service learning course has ended.
Work for the Center of Citizenship and Community
Every semester the center hires a number of civically-minded students to serve as Advocates for Community Engagement (ACE’s) to manage relationships with off-campus sites.
The CCC also hires research assistants for specific projects.
Work positions with the CCC are posted on BLUE.
Do an Internship with the help of the CCC
The CCC works with community partners to develop internships. If you are interested in an internship or independent study with the local community, check for internships posted on BLUE. The CCC may also be able to assist you and your advisor/professor to construct a new internship opportunity.
How can I recommend a programming idea to the Center for Citizenship and Community?
If you have an idea for an outreach program or a service learning component please feel free to consult with Dr. Donald Braid.
Students can also get involved with the community through associated offices at Butler University such as the Office of Volunteerism and Service-Based Education.
