Blackboard/Moodle Requests
Information Technology offers a variety of special services for
Blackboard/Moodle. This includes special enrolls, course umbrellas,
course copies, and other related requests.
PLEASE NOTE: It is required that the instructor of
record submit requests for that course.
Course Umbrellas
If you would like to have several sections of a course or
multiple courses combined into one Blackboard/Moodle course, you
may request a course umbrella.
NOTE: If you plan to request a course umbrella, DO NOT
edit any of the courses. When creating a course umbrella any
information placed into the courses prior to the umbrella is wiped
clean.

If you would like a previous course copied into a current
course, you may perform a course copy using the instructions
below.
NOTE: Any date-specific information copied from an old
course, such as course announcements, is reset to the date of the
course copy in the new course. Once the new course is available,
please review to ensure dates are set properly.

Organization Creation
Administrative offices, student groups and other organizations
officially recognized by Butler University may request a Blackboard
organization for use by members of the Butler University community
only. For student groups, the faculty advisor must make the
request.
Information Technology creates organizations upon submission of
a request form and verification of the requirements listed above.
Currently, enrollment in the organization must also be handled by
Information Technology based on submission of an enrollment list of
university IDs and may only be updated once a semester. As
Blackboard/Moodle academic uses must take priority, requests for
organizations may take up to 10 days. Requests should be made
through Information Technology (Please download the
Enrollment List Spreadsheet, fill in Org Members and Leaders
and attach file to request submitted to itrequest.butler.edu).
Organizations are not subject to the archival process described
for courses. If an organization leader no longer uses the
site, request for modification should be submitted
through itrequest.butler.edu to
have the site removed. Organizations will be reviewed periodically
to determine if they are still active. If no longer in use, an
organization may be deleted from the Blackboard system.
Special Enrolls
Additional instructors, assistants and other staff or
faculty may be added to a course by the instructor of record, using
the instructions below.
