Blackboard Requests
The Center for Academic Technology offers a variety of special
services for Blackboard. This includes special enrolls, course
umbrellas, course copies, and other related requests.
PLEASE NOTE: It is required that the instructor of record submit
requests for that course.
Development Courses
Instructors may now request a development version of a course
that will allow them to work on course materials over a longer
period of time and in a private space that is not term specific.
These special development courses are created by request only.
The basics of the program with some noted restrictions
include:
- Faculty may request one course for each subject area/catalog
number. (i.e. ID202)
- Only faculty may be enrolled in the course; no students.
- Faculty may request co-instructors for group development.
- Faculty may request a sample student account with the
development course.
- Faculty may request that all materials be copied from the
term-specific version of the course to the new development
course.
- Requests for these special courses will not be filled during
peak periods of Blackboard activity before each term.
- Requests submitted at these times will be processed after the
drop/add period completes.
- Requests should be made with all requirements specified on a
single form.

Course Umbrellas
If you would like to have several sections of a course or
multiple courses combined into one Blackboard course, you may
request a course umbrella.
NOTE: If you plan to request a course umbrella, DO NOT edit any of
the courses. When creating a course umbrella any information placed
into the courses prior to the umbrella is wiped clean.

Course Copies
If you would like a previous course copied into a current
course, you may request a course copy.
NOTE: Any date-specific information copied from an old course,
such as course announcements, is reset to the date of the course
copy in the new course. Once the new course is available, please
review to ensure dates are set properly.
