Our most successful and
long-lasting partnerships are approached
from the perspective of reciprocal benefits, in
which the student's educational experiences equals or even exceeds
the service performed.
Partnerships have included:
- A CARING PLACE
-
- A daycare center for adults with physical and cognitive
challenges. Students brighten the days of site participants, which
at the same time learning valuable lessons in listening,
caregiving, and therapy.
- KALEIDOSCOPE YOUTH CENTER
-
- Students have acted as mentors, tutors, and dance instructors
for afterschool programs at this United Way agency, earning
valuable life experience as well as enriching the lives of
grade-school children.
- NUR-ALLAH ISLAMIC CENTER
-
- Students help with the weekend school and research around the
center, and are also exposed to an often-vilified American
minority. Students in the past have emerged from onsite
service-learning with broader horizons, and lessons on
cross-cultural communication.
