The Internship & Career Prep Program is designed to prepare students to identify, apply for, and secure internship and career positions by offering a variety of valuable sessions such as resume critiques, mock interviews, hot topic discussions and more.
Attendance at each event automatically enters students in a drawing for one of TWO $400 professional wardrobe shopping sprees! FREE FOOD AT EVERY SESSION!
Fall 2008 Sessions
Learn About The Internship & Job Search Process
At this session students will learn about effective internship and job search strategies, the suggested timeline for finding an opportunity and how to utilize the many resources that are offered at Butler and beyond! Two opportunities to attend:
• Tuesday, September 16 from 4:30 to 5:30pm
• Thursday, September 18 from 12:00 to 1:00pm
Need Your Resume Critiqued? Attend This Session
This interactive resume critique session will provide students with personalized advice and assistance for creating effective resumes and/or cover letters. Business professionals, in addition to Internship & Career Services representatives, will be available to give on-the-spot feedback and tips. Two opportunities to attend:
• Tuesday, September 23 from 4:30 to 5:30pm
• Wednesday, September 24 from 12:00 to 1:00pm
Practice Your Interview Skills
This interactive mock interview session is a perfect way for students to practice answers to different types of questions that may be asked during a professional interview. In a “speed-meet” format, business professionals and Internship & Career Services representatives will interview students on a rotating basis. Students will be able to practice answers to various interview questions and receive valuable on-the-spot feedback. Two opportunities to attend:
• Tuesday, September 30 from 4:30 to 5:30pm
• Wednesday, October 1 from 12:00 to 1:00pm
Discover The Truth about Facebook, Employers & You
This session will provide students with valuable information regarding the long-lasting personal and professional implications of Facebook, MySpace and other social network profiles. While students are able to research companies prior to interviews, employers are also researching potential candidates by searching online social networks and the web. At this session, panelists will speak on the implications of profile pages and how to project a positive image using social networking sites.

Get Real Advice on Business Attire & Communication Etiquette
Once the interview is successfully completed and the student lands the internship or job, he or she may have questions about the professional environment. This hot topic session is designed to give students knowledge on how to dress properly and communicate appropriately in an internship or job. This session is ideal for any student, regardless of major or career path.
