New Construction
- Recycle construction demolition materials - metals, woods
- Recycle old carpet and purchasing "green" carpet
One of our major suppliers is projected to be fully sustainable in
the year 2010. They are receiving old carpet, separating it into
the different parts and pieces, and using the parts and pieces in
production of their new carpet.
- Carpet tiles used in new construction and renovation
- Install waterless urinals in new construction and
renovation.
- Install occupancy sensors (automatic light switches ) in new
construction and renovations
- Install Hand dryers at Health and Recreation Center to save on
paper waste
- Utilize "day lighting techniques and philosophies" in classroom
spaces
- New COPHS building will be silver LEED certification
Silver LEED certified building
- Motion and occupancy sensors in all space
- T5, T8, and LED light bulbs to conserve electricity
- Light shelves used in appropriate places
- Day lighting used in appropriate spaces
- Purchasing 10% campus wide Green Power
- Only low flow toilets, urinals and shower heads installed
- Low flow faucets in all sinks including Research Lab, H&P
lab, housekeeping closets and restrooms
- Green (only) housekeeping products being used in building
- Recycling stations installed on each floor
- All refrigerators, freezers, etc. energy star rated
- Heat recovery from Data Center will heat part of the building
in winter
- Carpeting / modular tile product ( Tandus / Collins and Aikman)
certified LEED platinum
- Low VOC paint
- Furniture meets "cradle to cradle" certification
- 90% of all construction debris diverted from landfills
- No permanent irrigation will be used once plants are
established
