In case of inclement weather, such as ice or severe storms, the race will be cancelled. In such an instance, race officials will make the determination to cancel the race at least 30 minutes before the scheduled start of the race.

If there is flooding along the canal path, the race will be re-routed into an "out and back" course, still measuring 3.5 miles. Again, this determination will be made the morning of the race if necessary.
