Applying to Arts
Administration
We are glad you are interested in applying for Butler
University's Arts Administration program, one of the first
undergraduate programs in the country. Arts Administration is
designed to prepare students for a future in the management of
non-profit arts and community organizations.
If you are interested in an arts administration degree within
Dance, Music or Theatre, you must apply to that department and
schedule an audition. If you are interested in an arts
administration degree that embraces ALL the arts, then you will
want to complete the Arts Administration General application and
schedule an interview on one of the dates provided.
Each audition or interview day is filled with
activities and information designed to give you a glimpse inside
arts administration at Butler. The audition or interview day
includes the following:
- 8:45am registration in the east Lobby of Lilly Hall. Audition
and interview times will be distributed at registration.
- Message from the Jordan College of the Arts associate
dean.
- An interview with Arts Administration faculty: for Music and
Theatre auditioners, it will be a 15 minute interview. For Arts
Administration General applicants, it will be a 30 minute
interview.
- Opportunity to talk with Arts Administration students.
- Tours of the Jordan College of the Arts facilities including
Clowes Memorial Hall and the Butler University campus.
- Financial aid session.
- Observation of classes and rehearsals.
Please note that Dance - Arts Administration applicants will
follow the audition day agenda for dance majors.
We believe this experience will give you an understanding of
what we mean by Arts Administration at Butler, and will ultimately
help you make an informed college decision.
Exact interview times are subject to change,
so interview schedules are distributed at registration on
your interview day.
