Alumni Chapters and Regional Representatives
Chapters
Alumni chapters provide graduates with the opportunity to stay
updated on what is taking place on Butler's campus no matter where
they live. Chapters also provide an easy way for Butler alumni to
come together in a friendly environment through social and service
events. They bring together Butler graduates, encourage alumni
activities in the community and promote the interests and welfare
of Butler University. Current and former parents, friends and
donors are often included in all chapter events and news.
Current chapters include:
Requirements to start a Chapter
Alumni chapters are typically established in locations where
approximately 300 or more alumni reside with a
core organizing group of at least 12 members. The Office of Alumni
and Parent Programs will assist with the creation of a chapter;
however, the successful formation of a chapter is dependent largely
upon the enthusiasm and dedication of the alumni who assume
responsibility for their role. The 12 organizing members may
seek to form a chapter by submitting to the Alumni Board a petition
that:
(a) states the proposed name of the Chapter, the proposed
geographic area to be served, and the purposes for which the
Chapter is to be formed;
(b) states the names of at least twelve (12) initial organizers
who have committed to a two-year term; and
(c) provides that the members of the proposed Chapter agree
to abide by the
Alumni Association Guidelines and Requirements and
the policies of the Office of Alumni and Parent Programs.
If the Board approves the petition, the Alumni Chapter may begin
to function as an official body of the Association for an initial
two year trial period. The Alumni Chapter must promptly
submit to the Office of Alumni and Parent Programs its initial
operating plan including annual goals, communication calendar and
strategies and programming.
Regional Representatives
Often there are areas of alumni in a city or region that are not
large enough to support a chapter; however, these areas are
locations the University will host annual or biannual events.
Current and former parents, friends and donors are included in
regional alumni programming activities.
