Alumni Chapter Challenge _Give NowThe Butler University Chapter Challenge is a fun way for all nine alumni chapters to compete against one another in a friendly competition that not only benefits current Butler University students, but also the winning chapters. Chapters are eligible to win event grants in four different categories that will be used for an event in YOUR chapter city! Funds can be used for food, beverages, rental space, or all of the above! The Chapter Challenge is based on participation, not dollar amount. All gifts made to the University between June 1, 2013, and May 31, 2014, will count towards your chapter's progress. Gifts of any size, made to any fund or campaign, will count. Your support for Butler University represents the dynamic interaction of individuals working together to achieve phenomenal things for current students. These gifts allow Butler the opportunity to provide enhancements to the educational experience that tuition and fees do not cover. Gifts of all sizes add up to make a collective difference! What is the Chapter Challenge? ~ Show Information

Butler's Chapter Challenge is a friendly competition between all nine alumni chapters (Atlanta, Bay Area, Central Indiana, Chicago, Cincinnati, Greater Detroit, Fort Wayne, Greater New York, and Washington, D.C. From June 1, 2013, and May 31, 2014, all gifts you make to the University will go towards the participation rate of your chapter city. Gifts of any size, to any fund, make a difference for Butler and will count in the Chapter Challenge!

Why is Butler doing a Chapter Challenge? ~ Show Information

Chapter Challenges are not new to universities. The idea for a Chapter Challenge was born out of the input from several alumni in chapter cities. Chapter members want a way to help Butler exceed its current alumni donor participation rate of 25 percent, while creating camaraderie among the nine chapters.

All gifts received between June 1, 2013, and May 31, 2014, will count toward the Chapter Challenge.

Which chapters are participating in the Chapter Challenge? ~ Show Information

All nine of Butler University's alumni chapters are participating. These include Atlanta, Bay Area California, Central Indiana, Chicago, Cincinnati, Greater Detroit, Fort Wayne, Greater New York, and Washington, D.C.

How will winning chapters be calculated? ~ Show Information

All nine chapters have the opportunity to win. Each chapter will start from the alumni donor participation rate for their chapter for fiscal year 2012-2013. Winners will then be determined by totaling up the number of alumni living in a chapter region who give during the Chapter Challenge (June 1, 2013-May 31, 2014). Remember, participation rate is determined by the total number of donors representing a chapter, not the total dollar amount of gifts.

What are the prizes? ~ Show Information

Grand Prize: The chapter with the overall highest participation rate will win an event grant of $1,000.

Prize #2: The chapter with the largest percentage increase in giving over its fiscal year 2012-2013 percentage will win an event grant of $500.

Prize #3: All chapters exceeding Butler's current overall alumni participation rate (25 percent) will win an event grant of $250.

Where do the gifts given during the Chapter Challenge go? ~ Show Information

As with any gift to the University, your gift will benefit whatever Butler program or area you choose to support.

All gifts, of any size, collectively make a difference for the current students at Butler University. By focusing on participation, every gift counts. Making a gift is what is important. Why does Butler care about alumni participation? ~ Show Information

Alumni donor participation is one way that you can demonstrate the belief you have in your Butler degree. In addition, corporations and foundations will often look at alumni participation rates prior to making their own investment in Butler. Think about it: by making a gift to Butler you are telling outsiders how important a Butler education was to your life and, now, to the community in which you work and live.

  1. Giving a gift of any amount online or by mailing in a giving form.
  2. Downloading one of our Chapter Challenge social media graphics for use on your personal Facebook page, Twitter account, or other social media outlets you may use.
  3. Encouraging others in your Butler alumni network to participate by posting about it on your favorite social media sites and/or sending a personal email with the link to give or the link to this website for more information.

What if I have already made a gift to Butler this fiscal year (June 1, 2013 or later)? ~ Show Information

First of all, thank you for making a gift to Butler. Your gift is already calculated as part of your chapter's participation, and you do not need to make an additional gift to be counted in the Chapter Challenge. However, you can continue to help by encouraging other alumni in your chapter city to participate. Visit our Spread the Word page to post about the Chapter Challenge on your social networks like Facebook and Twitter and encourage your friends to give. You can also send a personal email message to fellow alumni with links to the giving form and this website.

What happens if I make two or more separate gifts between June 1, 2013, and May 31, 2014? ~ Show Information

Many of our alumni choose to support Butler multiple times a year. After all, there is a lot to love about our school. It only takes one gift to accept the Challenge and be counted. Of course, we hope you continue to support all the areas of Butler that are significant to you.
